Antique Car Radio Restoration Information Page

Usually if an antique car radio doesn't play, it probably needs a new vibrator and buffer capacitor plus a new set of paper and filter capacitors. That, in 99% of all cases brings the antique car radio back to life with "Better than New" performance. If you'd like to get your antique car radio restored please either send us an E-mail message at antique@justrepairs.com or call us at (805) 238-2053.

This is how we calculate the price of a restoration:
Parts: This is the price of parts and schematics, if necessary.
Labor: Labor is calculated from the number of parts (99% of the time only paper + filter capacitors and vibrator) to be replaced and not by the hour. Minimum labor on Antique "Classic" Car Radios is $59.90 and covers installation of up to ten parts. Each additional part installed adds $5.99 to the total labor cost.
Tax: If you live in CA State we have to charge you sales tax.
Shipping cost: Whatever you paid for shipping is what we need to ship your antique car radio back to you.

We do not restore the metal case or remove rust. We only electronically restore the car radio to its original (or better) working condition. Yes, it can work great and be rusty at the same time! Antique Car Radios were made from the 1920s until the 1950s and have tubes in them. We specialize in Antique Tube type car radios that have a vibrator power supply only. But, if your radio is transistorized and you still want us to work on it, we can.

Since there are thousands of Antique Car Radios we cannot give an accurate total for how much its going to cost without actually seeing it and giving you a free estimate.
However, if all a set needs is capacitors and vibrator (which is in most cases), the price will probably be between $160.00 and $320.00 + shipping to restore. Some sets fall outside this range either lower or higher.
If the set needs other parts besides capacitors, such as resistors, tubes, coils, transformers, etc, the restoration costs more, depending on the price of the additional part(s).
